Now it was the turn of News 24 to re-launch, In a £30 million revamp, the BBC changed the on-screen look of the channel at 5.30am on 25th October 1999, when the flags flew for the final time. The new set and graphics, were, of course, a variation upon those used by BBC News (on BBC One and Two).

On the 25th October 1999 at 5.30am, there was a news summary followed by Simpson's World. Then, at around 5.59am, there was a quick weather briefing with David Braine, immediately followed by the countdown which started at about 29 seconds. Then, at 6.00am the presenters, Chris Eakin and Jane Hill, read the headlines and the new ident was played for the first time. (Note: the file has been edited to reduce download time.)
